Koeman on Gunners radar

Ronald Koeman the new favourite for the Arsenal job?

06 March 2017 - 06:10

Everton boss Ronald Koeman has emerged as the new favourite to take over the reigns from Arsene Wenger at the end of the campaign.

  • Arsenal make surprise decision on Viktor Gyokeres
  • Arsenal to battle Napoli to sign Alexsandro Ribeiro?

  • The former Holland international is also a target for Barcelona - with whom he holds a legendary status to date.

Wenger's position at the Emirates remains an uncertainty for next season with the Frenchman yet to extend his terms beyond the summer.

According to The Mirror, Koeman is the front-runner to clinch the Gunners' vacancy next season with Thomas Tuchel and Max Allegri having distanced themselves from the job.

Borussia Dortmund's Tuchel had been initially tipped to join the north London club in the summer, but it appears that the German side are prepared to offer him a fresh contract.

On the other hand, Allegri remains committed to Juventus for the remainder of his contract - due to expire in 2018, and there is nothing from his side to suggest that he may accept the Gunners job.

Koeman has transformed Everton from a potential mid-table side to one which can challenge for a Europa League place, and this appears to have impressed the Arsenal board.

In spite of this, the 53-year-old has remained calm over his future by citing that he is committed to his current employers at Merseyside.
