Man Utd lodge world-record bid for Monaco sensation

Manchester United have reportedly made a world-record attempt to sign Kylian Mbappe which has since been rebuffed by AS Monaco.

  • The teenager has been in robust form for the Principality outfit since February, and his tally of 13 goals in all competitions has captured the attention of Europe's elite.

    The likes of Arsenal and Real Madrid have been credited with an interest in Mbappe in recent weeks, but according to Cadena Cope, the Red Devils had made a world-record £95m bid in order fend off interest from his suitors.

    Monaco have, however, knocked back the approach from the Mancunian giants as they feel the youngster is much more valuable to the side, who seek to attain their first league title since the millennium.

    League rivals Arsenal have flattered to deceive in the transfer market in recent seasons, and Real Madrid remain the main competitors for Mbappe, who has been compared to former greats Thierry Henry and Ronaldo (Brazil).

    Paul Pogba is currently the world's most expensive player having rejoined Manchester United from Juventus for £89.3m last summer.
