Jurgen Klopp to resist Divock Origi sale

Klopp wants Divock Origi stay

Jurgen Klopp to resist Divock Origi sale

26 March 2017 - 17:32

Liverpool striker Divock Origi will reportedly remain at Anfield next season despite his limited gametime during the ongoing campaign.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • The Belgium international has been largely a bench warmer for the Merseyside giants this season with manager Jurgen Klopp willing to stick with Roberto Firmino for the lone role upfront.

While Klopp has admitted the need to add few recruits to his squad, The Liverpool Echo reports that the German will stick with the 21-year-old, who he believes to have a huge future at the club.

On the hand, Origi does have a different view on the situation with the lack of European football having played some part in his restricted playing time this term.

"It has been a while since I've been able to play a few games in a row," he said. "Last year it was easier because we were still in the Europa League and competing in the two cup competitions. As a result there were more chances. At the end of the season I'll make an assessment."

Origi has appeared in exactly 19 league outings for Liverpool this season - more than half of those coming from the substitutes' bench.
