Inter look into swap deal for forgotten Spurs man

Lamela has struggled at Tottenham

Inter look into swap deal for forgotten Spurs man

28 March 2017 - 16:46

Inter Milan are looking into a potential transfer offer for Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder Erik Lamela, and it could be bad news for Manchester United.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The Italian giants believe that Lamela could be a key asset to them next season at the San Siro, whilst Lamela is also likely to be looking for a new challenge. There has been glimpses of what he is capable of since joining from Roma in 2013, but the Argentinian has struggled to live up to his potential at White Hart Lane, often being weighed down by his £30 million transfer fee.

Injury has held Lamela back this season, limiting him to just nine Premier League appearances this campaign. Even when fit, Lamela has found it difficult to establish himself at Tottenham, with several players being picked ahead of him by manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Inter are considering a swap deal for Lamela, which would see Marcelo Brozovic go the other way. This would be bad news for Manchester United, who are also interested in signing Inter's Croatia international.

If this deal goes ahead, Tottenham will be very happy with their business, with other teams who are interested in Brozovic said to be willing to pay in the region of £40 million.
