Chelsea to lose out on PSG Star

Premier League leaders Chelsea face a tough task of luring Paris Saint-Germain's Marco Verratti amid interest from Barcelona.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • The France international is understood to have made his mind up for a fresh challenge despite earlier stating his ambition to lift the European crown at Parc des Princes.

Verratti had explained his love for Barcelona prior to the 6-6 aggregate Champions League defeat (away goals) to the La Liga holders, and this appears to have captured the attention of the Catalan giants.

A report from The Sun claims that the Blues could lose in their pursuit of Verratti with Barcelona likely to lodge a £70m raid for his services in the summer.

Barcelona are currently on the search for a long-term replacement for Andres Iniesta, and it is understood that Verratti fits their bill for the central midfield position.

The news could come as a big blow for Antonio Conte, who is said to hold a long-term interest in the playmaker - he had scouted during his time at former club Juventus.
