Slaven Bilic has come under pressure at West Ham United recently, after failing to match the performances and results of last season. Having now been given the backing of the board, Bilic is looking to strengthen his squad for next season, with a Manchester City defender emerging as a target.
Pablo Zabaleta has found it difficult to get regular game time at Manchester City this season and looks set to leave the Etihad at the end of the season after nine years with the club. The thirty two year old's contract expires at the end of this season and the Daily Mail reports that Zabaleta has opened contract talks with the Hammers.
The right back position is somewhere that West Ham are in need of improvement, whilst Zabaleta's experience would also be a key attribute to add to any team. Signing a more natural right back would also allow the likes of Michail Antonio to play to the best of their ability in a preferred attacking position.
Zabaleta will be able to look back on a successful Manchester City career, having won two Premier League titles, two League Cups and the FA Cup since signing from Espanyol in 2008.
