Manchester City are prepared to offer defender Eliaquim Mangala in a potential deal to sign Valencia's Jose Gaya during the summer transfer window.

  • The Citizens are expected to spend big during the off-season with Pep Guardiola placing emphasis on bolstering the defence ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.

According to The Star, Pep has set his sights on bringing Gaya to the Etihad with both Gael Clichy and Aleksandar Kolarov approaching the final months of their contracts.

Mangala has done fairly well during his loan spell with Valencia this term, and the Citizens will seek to offer him as make-weight in a proposed move for Gaya in the summer.

Gaya, 21, has turned out over 100 outings for the Mestalla outfit since making his first-team debut during the 2012-13 season.

He has appeared for the Spain national side across all youth levels, and a move to a bigger club could enhance his chances of earning a call-up to the senior squad.
