Jose Mourinho weighing up moves for Ligue 1 duo

01 May 2017 - 07:02

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is planning a double raid on the French Ligue 1 ahead of this summer's transfer window.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • The Red Devils boss is likely to make significant improvements to his squad this summer after the club failed to provide a decent challenge for the league title this season.

According to The Express, the Special One has lined up moves for Blaise Matuidi and Bernardo Silva, who are key players for Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco respectively.

Matuidi currently has just a year left on his existing deal, and United are willing to cough up a £30m sum in order to acquire his services.

The France international had been linked with a potential move to one of Juventus or United last summer, but he opted to stick with Les Parisiens, who are now willing to offer him an extension.

Meanwhile, Silva is theĀ other player topping the United wishlist with Jose Mourinho keen to add a new playmaker who could dictate play in the middle of the park.

Silva has provided eight goals and 10 assists for the Principality outfit this season, and he is an outside candidate to be named the Ligue 1 player of the Year. He is currently valued at around £50m.
