Liverpool not giving up on Isco as they look to replace Coutinho

02 May 2017 - 14:11

Liverpool currently sit third in the Premier League, although early season form suggested that they would be challenging the top two much more than they are. Philippe Coutinho has been one of the club's top players this season, but he may be set to depart Anfield in the summer in a move to La Liga.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • Don Balon suggests that Jurgen Klopp is resigned to losing the Brazilian star at the end of the campaign, and is preparing to sign a replacement as soon as possible. With Liverpool hoping to push for the Premier League title next season, losing Coutinho would come as a massive blow, with fans hoping that other star players will not follow him.

The player that Don Balon reports Klopp will try to replace Coutinho with is Real Madrid's Isco. Earlier in the season Isco appeared very unsettled at the Santiago Bernabeu, making an exit look certain, especially with bitter rivals Barcelona keen to acquire him.

Isco has gained more game time recently however, and local reports suggest that he will now stay with the Madrid club. The Liverpool manager will hope that this is not the case and will do all that he can to tempt him to the Premier League, especially if Coutinho does leave.
