Liverpool, Newcastle vying for Celtic full-back

Liverpool and Newcastle United could be prepared to fight it out for the services of Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney in the summer.

  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • The 19-year-old has been in sublime form for the Scottish champions over the course of the campaign, and his showing has captured the attention of the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United.

A report from The Star claims that the Reds and Magpies could vie for the young full-back in the summer after having notched two goals and eight assists in an injury-hit season.

Liverpool have solely depended on James Milner to perform the left-back duties this term, and Jurgen Klopp is keen to add a youthful player in the position ahead of the new season.

Fulham's Ryan Sessegnon has been linked with the Anfield outfit for a while, but it appears that Tierney is their number one choice for the role.

Meanwhile, Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez is also keen to add a new left-sided defender on their return to the top flight, but it is unclear whether he would be willing to match the player's £10m valuation.
