Everton boss Ronald Koeman is reportedly eyeing a move for Middlesbrough midfielder Marten de Roon as he seeks to rebuild his squad ahead of next season.

  • The 26-year-old has been a regular at the heart of the Boro midfield this season, and his performances have attracted interest from a host of English clubs.

According to The Mail, Koeman is keen to add a fresh player in midfield amid the uncertainty over the futures of Ross Barkley and James McCarthy.

De Roon has been identified as a suitable target to fill the void, and it is suggested that the Toffees could move in for his services, now that Boro have been relegated back to the second tier of English football.

The Merseyside outfit are understood to have sent representatives to watch the Dutch footballer in action during Middlesbrough's 3-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea on Monday.

De Roon has appeared in 32 league outings for the Riverside outfit since his switch from Italian club Atalanta BC last summer.
