Silva, 22, has provided nine goals and 10 assists during the ongoing campaign, and his performances have helped Monaco come on the cusp of the French league title.

According to The Express, via Diario Gol, United have joined the pursuit of the highly-rated attacker, who is also a transfer target for both Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Barca are understood to already made big strides towards the playmaker as they seek to replace Andres Iniesta in the future, and this appears have alerted Los Blancos president Florentino Perez, who is also keen on the player.

Amidst the fierce rivalry, United appear to be the other club in the race with Jose Mourinho hoping to use his super-agent in Jorge Mendes to push through the deal.
