Real Madrid attacker James Rodriguez is reportedly open to the prospect of joining Manchester United, should the club part ways with skipper Wayne Rooney.

  • The Colombia international is understood to have already finalised terms over his Old Trafford move, and he is said to want the number 10 shirt ahead of next season, The Sun, via RCN Radio claims.

Rodriguez, now 25, has been on the fringes of the Los Blancos for a while, and he is eager to move on to a club where he is valued more as a player.

According to The Sun, the South American ace is leaning towards a move to United this summer with the prospect of earning a regular role in the starting lineup.

However, the forward will wait on the potential departure of Rooney before he gives the green light for his switch to the Mancunian giants.

Rooney has barely featured under Jose Mourinho in recent months, and his time could be up this summer with Everton and a host of Chinese clubs keen on his services.
