Both Arsenal and Manchester City won their matches on Wednesday to keep the fight for the Premier League top four alive, going into the final round of fixtures.
Arsenal took on Sunderland at the Emirates, knowing that victory against the relegated team was a must if they were to keep their Champions League hopes alive.
The first half failed to provide any goals, making the nerves around the stadium increase further, It took until the seventy second minute for the first goal to come, when Mesut Ozil's good work was finished off by Alexis Sanchez. With the deadlock broken, Sanchez doubled the Gunners' lead nine minutes later to assure that Arsenal's hunt for a twenty first consecutive top four finish goes on.
Over at the Etihad, Manchester City hosted West Brom. Victory would take them above Liverpool, putting the Merseyside club's Champions League place in jeopardy. The result was secured by the half hour mark, with Kevin de Bruyne's great effort following another Gabriel Jesus goal moments before.
Yaya Toure made it 3-0 after the break, with what could potentially be his last goal for the club. Hal Robson-Kanu got a late consolation for West Brom, but the victory was already confirmed for Manchester City, who sit third going into the final weekend.
