Mateo Musacchio to join AC Milan

Musacchio on verge of Milan switch

Mateo Musacchio to join AC Milan

22 May 2017 - 08:03

Villareal defender Mateo Musacchio will be packing his bags for a move to the Serie A after AC Milan reached an agreement to secure his signature.

  • Chelsea want to sign Lyon star to replace Jadon Sancho
  • Arsenal want to bring Aymeric Laporte back to England

  • The Argentina international is regarded as one of the most consistent centre-backs in La Liga after having helped Villareal attain a fifth-placed finish while holding the second best defensive record in the league - behind Atletico Madrid.

Musacchio has been previously linked with likes of Everton and Chelsea, but according to Calciomercato, the defender will put pen to paper on a long-term deal with the Rossoneri.

The Chinese owners are desperate to take Milan to their glory days, and the presence of Musacchio would provide more stability alongside Alessio Romagnoli.

Milan fell short of their target for Champions League football this season, but they may have a realistic chance of achieving the feat next term with the Serie A set to regain four places in the premier competition.

Musacchio has appeared in 30 outings for the Yellow Submarines this term while finding the scoresheet on two occasions.

He will have the opportunity of plying his trade in the Europa League next term with Milan having secured the seventh place ahead of fierce rivals Inter.
