Rafa Benitez keen on Pepe Reina reunion

28 May 2017 - 06:02

Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez is keen to bring Pepe Reina back to the Premier League during this summer's transfer window.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The Spain international spent nine seasons with Premier League club Liverpool where he amassed 394 appearances across all competitions.

Reina has since moved on to Napoli following a loan spell with Bayern Munich, and he has made himself a regular with the Serie A outfit.

According to The Sun, Rafa could seek to lure Reina back to England this summer after having previously worked together in Merseyside.

The 34-year-old is currently weighing up his summer options after club president aimed a cheeky dig at his spouse, which has not gone well with Reina.

As a result, both parties are willing to part ways in the summer with the Naples outfit lining up a potential swoop for Arsenal shot-stopper Wojciech Szczesny in the summer.

Newcastle United are likely to reward Rafa with a £100m plus transfer kitty this summer after Mike Ashley promised 'every last penny' prior to the Spaniard's decision to extend his contract.
