Real Madrid eyeing cut-price Hazard deal

06 June 2017 - 05:39

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez will seek to negotiate a bargain deal for Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard following his recent ankle injury on international duty.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • The Belgium international is set to miss the start of the new season after he suffered a fracture in his ankle which requires a recuperation period of at least three months.

Hazard had recently suggested that he would welcome a summer approach from the European champions, and Perez could seek to lower the player's valuation during the upcoming transfer window, Don Balon reports.

Chelsea are said to have placed a record £100m price tag on their leading playmaker, but Los Blancos could offer a far lesser sum by taking advantage of the player's injury situation.

Manchester City took the risk of signing Ilkay Gundogan while he was still injured at former Borussia Dortmund last year, and Los Blancos are hoping to use a similar tactic in luring Hazard to the Bernabeu.

Hazard provided 16 goals and six assists for the Premier League giants last season as they lifted the English crown with two games to spare.
