Chelsea to make Lukaku their highest paid striker

Romelu Lukaku is determined to force a move away from Goodison Park

Chelsea to make Lukaku their highest paid striker

In an attempt to tempt Romelu Lukaku to return to the club, Chelsea are set to offer the Belgian striker wages in excess of £150,000 per week, almost double his wage with current club Everton and more than current Chelsea striker Diego Costa.

  • Reports suggest that Diego Costa feels unwanted by Chelsea, with Antonio Conte looking to bring Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge and make him the focal point of their attack next season.

The Evening Standard suggests that Chelsea are not willing to pay the £100 million that Everton want for the powerful centre-forward, although they may have to reduce that slightly with Lukaku announcing that staying at Everton was "not an option".

Chelsea are prepared to pay around £80 million for Lukaku, a huge increase on the £28 million that they sold him for in 2014. StandardSport believes that the Premier League champions are willing to pay Lukaku more than £150,000 a week, which is the figure that Diego Costa currently receives.

Manchester United are reportedly willing to offer Lukaku a wage of £200,000 per week, but appear to have conceded that his desire to rejoin Chelsea will keep him from signing for the Old Trafford club.
