Liverpool plan ambitious Oxlade-Chamberlain bid

Liverpool ready record bid for Arsenal attacker

11 June 2017 - 05:05

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is lining up a late approach to lure contract rebel Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal this summer. The north London outfit have yet to resolve the future of their versatile star, who has just 12 months left on his previous deal.

  • Chelsea handed big injury boost for Bayern clash
  • Fernandes unhappy with Man Utd role under Amorim

  • According to The Express, the Merseyside giants are willing to cough up a club-record £40m sum for The Ox, who is being seen as an alternative to AS Roma's Mohamed Salah.

The Reds have already had a £28m offer turned down for the Egyptian winger, and they are reluctant to make a renewed £35m attempt for the former Chelsea man.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is capable of playing in the central midfield and wing-back positions in addition to his normal wing role, and Klopp is seemingly open to paying up a much higher fee than Salah in order to sign the Gunners' favourite.

The former Southampton graduate has previously suggested that he is committed to the north London club, and there is a sense that he would snub advances from Liverpool to sign a new £100,000 a week deal at Arsenal.

Oxlade-Chamberlain and co. will have to contend with Europa League football for next season after Arsenal failed to clinch a top-four spot for the first time under Arsene Wenger.
