Everton have made significant strides towards Sandro Ramirez's signature after the Malaga forward was spotted holding talks with Toffees director of football Steve Walsh.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • The Merseyside club are eager to make an impression in Europe next season after they clinched a qualification spot via their seventh place finish in the league.

Top-scorer Romelu Lukaku has already highlighted his intention to join a bigger club this summer, and Ramirez appears to have emerged as a potential replacement for the Belgian.

Ramirez bagged 14 goals during his La Liga stint with Malaga last season, and this has attracted interest from Atletico Madrid and Everton owing to his meagre &pound5.25m release clause.

Spanish outlet Marca earlier claimed that the player had agreed personal terms with Atleti but the move is now off following the club's failure to overturn their ongoing ban.

As a report, the Toffees are favourites to secure the services of the former Barcelona graduate, who could get his first taste of Premier League football next term, BBC Sport reports.

Everton are also closing in on deals for midfield duo Davy Klaassen and Gylfi Sigurdsson from Ajax and Swansea City respectively.
