Michael Keane will snub Manchester United return

13 June 2017 - 05:28

Burnley defender Michael Keane has no thoughts over a potential return to Manchester United as it could dent his chances of making England's World Cup squad.

  • Martin Keown praises complete Arsenal star after Bournemouth win

  • The 24-year-old will turn down an emotional comeback with the Red Devils just two years after his departure to Burnley in a £2m deal.

Keane has been hugely influential for Sean Dyche's side since their time in the Championship, but they could be forced to offload him this summer rather than lose him on a free in a year's time.

Manchester United have been leading the pursuit of Keane for some while, but the impending arrival of Victor Lindelof from Benfica appears to have influenced his decision.

Keane is unlikely to settle for a backup role to Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof, should he make the move to Old Trafford, and this has put Everton in the front seat to pursue his signature.

Ronald Koeman has openly admitted his admiration for Keane, who is being seen as a potential partner to Ashley Williams ahead of the new campaign.

Keane is likely to cost a fee of around £25m with United due to gain a 25 percent share owing to a sell-on clause on his existing deal.
