Manchester United are hoping to clinch the services of Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata in a &pound65m deal next week.The Red Devils are hot on the trail of the Spain international with Jose Mourinho desperate to find a new striker to lead the line.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was recently released from his contract owing to his long recuperation period, and this has freed up wages which could be used to lure Morata to Old Trafford.

United have had a couple of unsuccessful meetings with Los Blancos officials, but they are nevertheless confident of wrapping up a &pound65m deal with the Europa League holders.

Morata earned his first-team debut under Mourinho back in 2010, and this relationship appears to have urged him to pick Manchester United over other suitors including AC Milan.

The Spaniard bagged 20 goals across all competitions for Los Blancos despite making limited starts, and he is said to have finalised terms over a long-term deal at the Old Trafford outfit.
