French club Marseille are looking to add a couple of experienced faces to their squad with a move for former Arsenal and Manchester City defender Bacary Sagna.

  • Arsenal & Chelsea battling to sign Ajax defender

  • The right-back is a free agent following his release from the Citizens, but there are suggestions he could join a mid-table Premier League club.

According to The Mirror, Les Phoceens are planning to lure Sagna on a decent wage package just as they did with former Juventus defender Patrice Evra.

The Ligue 1 outfit have placed an emphasis on recruiting Premier League-based club players with the likes of Dimitri Payet and Florian Thauvin having rejoined the club over the past season.

Owner Frank McCourt has also set his sights on recruiting Arsenal duo Laurent Koscielny and Olivier Giroud while Crystal Palace's Yohan Cabaye also remains an option as he looks to propel the club higher up the table.

The American owner is said to be ambitious to compete for the Ligue 1 crown next term, and they could be further additions to a squad, which looked lively in the second half of last season.

Marseille managed to clinch a spot in the Europa League for the 2017/18 campaign following a fifth-placed finish in the French Ligue 1.
