Liverpool renew interest in Monaco left back

17 June 2017 - 06:26

Liverpool has renewed their long-term interest in Monaco left-back Benjamin Mendy and will reportedly make a concrete offer for the defender this summer. The full back starred in Monaco's league winning campaign in 2016/17 and is seen as a long-term replacement for interim left-sided defender James Milner.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • With Liverpool set to sell defender Andre Wisdom to Derby County, the Anfield side is to reuse those funds to bring in further defensive mettle and are ready to make a bid for Monaco defender Benjamin Mendy worth approximately 20 million euros. There are multiple clubs interested in the French full-back and German side Bayern Munich is expected to be one of the clubs who is monitoring Mendy's situation very closely.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been given a £125 million transfer kitty to spend on new players and the German boss has indicated that the signing of a new defender is amongst his top priorities.

Mendy could yet decide that his future is with Monaco, with the French club considering a new contract for the player over a six-year period.
