Manchester City close in on Alves signing

Dani Alves has impressed for Juventus since his move from Barcelona

Manchester City close in on Alves signing

18 June 2017 - 02:54

Manchester City's summer recruitment drive continues as they close in on the signing of Brazilian full back Dani Alves from Juventus.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts
  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players

  • Following the release of Bacary Sagna and Gael Clichy and with negotiations over a deal for Tottenham Hotspur right back Kyle Walker failing to progress, manager Pep Guardiola has now turned his attention to Alves.

Alves and Guardiola worked together during their time at Barcelona and Alves recently spoke of his admiration for the Spanish manager, calling him a genius.

With Alves still having a year remaining on his Juventus contract, it is believed that Manchester City would have to spend around £5 million, considerably less than the £40 million price tag on Kyle Walker.

The Guardian reports that Manchester City are willing to offer the 34-year-old a two year contract, which potentially would see him end his career in the Premier League.

Whilst nothing has officially been confirmed reports in Spain suggest that Alves has agreed a deal in principle with Manchester City and that negotiations are now at an advanced stage.
