Jose Mourinho wants Matteo Darmian stay

22 June 2017 - 08:27

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho will block any proposed move for full-back Matteo Darmian during this summer's transfer window.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • The Italy international has been recently linked with a move to Juventus, who confirmed the departure of Dani Alves last night.

Darmian was sparingly used during the course of the previous season, but Mourinho still feels the need to keep hold of his versatile ace following his impressive performances in the final stages of the campaign, Goal reports.

The former Torino man is capable of playing across the defence, and it is this quality which has kept him in the reckoning for a first-team spot at Old Trafford.

Mourinho is likely to bring in a new right-back - possible Nelson Semedo from Benfica this summer, but this is unlikely to have any influence on the position of Darmian.

Darmian currently faces competition from the likes of Daley Blind, Luke Shaw and Marcus Rojo for a spot on the left side of the backline.
