Alves Juventus contract to be terminated

Alves is set to leave Juventus after just one season with the Serie A champions

Alves' Juventus contract to be terminated

23 June 2017 - 06:39

Juventus defender Dani Alves is set to have the final year of his contract with the club mutually terminated in order to allow him to reunite with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts
  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players

  • Alves has only been with Juventus for a year, but during that time he has won a Serie A winners medal and reached the final of the UEFA Champions League.

Before that, Alves was a key member of the Barcelona defence for eight years, half of which was under the management of Pep Guardiola. Alves is now keen to work for Guardiola again, this time with Manchester City in the Premier League.

In a statement made to Italian media, Juventus chief executive, Beppe Marotta, explained that Alves is keen to "try a new experience" and that the club is working towards a mutual termination of his contract.

Alves will bring a wealth of experience to Manchester City as Pep Guardiola looks to rebuild his squad ahead of launching a Premier League title bid.

The club remains interested in Tottenham Hotspur right back Kyle Walker too, who would offer tough competition to Alves for the starting right back position.
