Chelsea to agree bargain fee for striker

Remy to leave Chelsea on nominal fee

Chelsea to agree bargain fee for striker

24 June 2017 - 05:40

Premier League holders Chelsea are looking to end their association with Loic Remy, who has failed to make any noticeable impact in the Blues shirt.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The France international joined the Blues from Queens Park Rangers three years ago and has since been outlooked for the centre-forward role due to the presence of Diego Costa.

Remy bagged 14 league goals during a loan stint with Newcastle United back in 2013-14, and this earned him a move to Stamford Bridge with a view to making himself a regular in the first XI.

The former Marseille man followed to earn restricted playing time in his first two years at Chelsea, netting 12 goals in 47 appearances, most of those coming from the substitutes' bench.

Remy was shipped out on loan to Crystal Palace last season in a bid to revive his career, but injuries and the lack of form saw him make just one Premier League start.

According to The Sun, former club Marseille have joined the chase for his signature, but they require the Frenchman to take a significant cut on his £80,000-a-week wages.

Remy was once a key performer for the France national team, but he now finds himself out of the reckoning with the World Cup coming along next year.
