  • Rafa Benitez, the Newcastle United coach, is an admirer of Samaris' talents and has instructed his board to do everything within their power to land the talented midfielder. A deal is set to be ironed prior to July as the Greek star flies to England to discuss personal terms alongside his agent next week.

Samaris transferred to Benfica in 2014 from Greek giants Olympiakos and has since gone on to appear for his country on a regular basis, earning 28 caps. Samaris played in 73 games for Benfica domestically, scoring two goals.

Newcastle has only signed Christian Atsu in the summer transfer window so far and coach Rafa Benitez wants to add some new faces to his squad after some high-profile names left the Toon Army this summer.
