Donnarumma set to sack agent Mino Raiola in favour of Milan stay

In a shocking turn of events, AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is set to sack his agent Mino Raiola as he fears the presence of Raiola is the real reason behind the rift between player and club.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • Donnarumma recently turned his back on AC Milan after he refused to extend his contract at the club. This surprised many people as the 18-year-old went on record just a few weeks ago to express his desire to become the captain and a legend of the club in the future.

His agent, the infamous Mino Raiola, who is still being investigated by FIFA over Paul Pogba's transfer, seemingly shed some light on the matter. He accused Milan of creating a "hostile" and "violent" environment and claimed the club was "bullying" his client by threatening to cut Donnarumma's playing time if he didn't extend his contract at the club.

However, the infamy that surrounds Mino Raiola has once again undermined his claims. According to Italian news outlet Football Italia, AC Milan manager, Vincenzo Montella personally visited Donnarumma and his family to explain what went on between Raiola and the Milan board members previously.

Donnarumma was believed to have been shocked by the actual details of the meeting and immediately decided to drop Raiola as his agent in favour of his father, Alfonso. The young Italian is also set to reverse his previous decision and sign an extension at the club. He is expected to make an official announcement about it in the coming days.

The speculation surrounding the souring relationship between player and agent was fuelled further at last night's u-21 European Championship match between Italy and Germany where Mino Raiola's cousin, Enzo, was at the game instead. Enzo refused to comment on the speculation when probed by reporters.
