Henrikh Mkhitaryan says Manchester United are contenders for Champions League crown

Ahead of Manchester United's second group stage match against Russian side CSKA Moscow, Mkhitaryan has talked up his side's chances of winning Europe's top prize.

  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town
  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal

  • Manchester United have started the season extremely well, failing to win only one match so far, in a 2-2 draw against Stoke. They have scored 24 goals but the more important statistic for Jose Mourinho would be the fact that his side has only conceded three goals in all competitions.

That solidity in defence will be vitally important for Mourinho's men as they travel to Russia on Wednesday to face CSKA Moscow in a bid to build on their 3-0 win over FC Basel in the first game of the group.

One of United's star performers this season, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, has talked up his side's chances of winning the Champions League this season and says his team is one of the contenders to lift the coveted trophy.

Speaking at a pre-match conference, the Armenian winger was quoted by the Metro saying: "This year we have the Champions League and we are all concentrating on winning it. We are a massive club and we will do everything we can to get to the final."

The 28-year-old rounded off the interview implying that the Champions League is a big step up from the Russian League and that he fancies his team's chances against CSKA.
