Massive injury boost for Chelsea with Alvaro Morata back in training

15 October 2017 - 19:19

Chelsea have received a huge injury boost with Alvaro Morata having linked up with his teammates for training on Sunday. The Spain international sustained a hamstring problem during the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City prior to the international break.

  • Predicted Man Utd line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Crystal Palace, Evans starts
  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal

  • Morata had initially been tipped to return to action for the Crystal Palace game on Saturday, but Conte decided against taking a risk on the Spaniard who hadn't fully recovered from the muscle injury.

However, it appears that the 24-year-old has since made good progress after the Blues posted a picture on their official Twitter account which revealed Morata back in training, the tweet read: "@AlvaroMorata on the pic.twitter.com/g3ptmlcQcC"

Michy Batshuayi struggled to make an impact during the shock loss to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, and Morata's return is likely to instill some of the confidence which has been dented by recent first-team injuries.

N'Golo Kante's absence in midfield also leaves a huge void to fill in the coming weeks, and Conte will be determined to end the club's recent losing streak against AS Roma in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
