Ozil set for winter Arsenal exit?

Arsenal ready to sell Mesut Ozil after giving up on contract extension

17 October 2017 - 17:00

Arsenal could reportedly offload midfielder Mesut Ozil in the New Year with the German still far off from extending his contract.

  • Chelsea make first move to sign Bournemouth star
  • Atletico Madrid planning shock move for Chelsea star
  • The World Cup winner has just eight months remaining on his existing deal, and talks over a renewal seem to have reached a dead-end.

Earlier last week, Arsene Wenger admitted that there is a possibility of both Ozil and Alexis Sanchez being sold in January, and according to The Mirror, the latter could be shown the exit door.

Ozil's representatives have highlighted the attacker's demand for a £350,000 weekly wage, and this is something the Gunners are unlikely to match owing to his attitude on and off the pitch this season.

Apart from his lacklustre performances on the field, Ozil has also been absent in the club's promotional events - citing illness as a reason behind his no-show.

Ozil has yet to contribute a goal or assist for the Gunners this term, and his importance has reduced over the past games with Wenger offering opportunities to Alex Iwobi behind the main striker.
