Jose Mourinho talks up Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial playing together

Manchester United head coach Jose Mourinho has revealed that he is prepared to start both Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford together, although it is not possible in every single game.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Spurs, Gilchrist starts
  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs

  • Mourinho has swapped roles between the pair in the Premier League with Rashford coming off the bench on three occasions while Martial has done the same in twice the number of games.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday's Champions League outing versus Benfica, the 54-year-old said that he always considers playing the young duo, although the squad depth makes it difficult to pick both.

"We played Martial and Rashford together one week ago so they can play together. What you can't do is play with 12," he told reporters, as per The Mirror.

Martial and Rashford have already played together in the League Cup triumphs over Burton Albion and Swansea City this term, and Mourinho appeared to hint that the pair could start from the off against Benfica.

He added: "So we can repeat against Benfica or we can repeat against any other match. Nobody here thinks about any other match than Benfica. Nobody here thinks about Chelsea. It’s Benfica, Champions League and just Benfica."

Manchester United ended last weekend with a morale-boosting 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur after Anthony Martial utilised his pace to get behind the Spurs defence to score an 81st-minute winner.
