Arsene Wenger reiterates desire to resolve Jack Wilshere's future

02 November 2017 - 18:10

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reiterated his ambition to resolve the future of England international Jack Wilshere.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • The 25-year-old has just eight months remaining on his existing deal, and talks over an extension have stalled with the Englishman yet to be assured of regular Premier League action.

Wenger, 68, has previously revealed his contention with the 25-year-old's return to full fitness, and he remains hopeful of committing both Wilshere and Mesut Ozil to new contracts before the turn of the year.

"Ideally you want to keep both of them. I said many times that would be decided in December," Wenger is quoted as saying by The Mirror.

Wilshere has earned just 13 minutes of top-flight action since returning to first-team action in early September. He has, however, featured regularly in the League Cup and Europa League games.

The Stevenage-born ace is certain to command a starting spot later tonight when the Gunners host Red Star Belgrade in the fourth game of the Europa League group stage.
