Paris Saint-Germain eye Alvaro Morata as Edinson Cavani replacement

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly earmarked Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata as a potential replacement for Edinson Cavani at the end of the campaign.

  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Cavani, 30, has been in impressive form for Les Parisiens since Zlatan Ibrahimovic's departure in 2016, but according to Marca, he could part ways with the French giants next summer.

The Uruguay international had a rift with Neymar over a spot kick in mid-September, and this has apparently urged him to reconsider his future at Parc des Princes.

As per Marca, Morata has been identified as the first-choice striker to replace Cavani next season, and the club's hierarchy are confident that the Spaniard could be convinced to leave Stamford Bridge.

In a recent report covered by Gazzetta dello Sport, Morata had cited that he does not expect to stay in London for 'very long', but he later stressed that he is happy to commit his future to Chelsea for the long-term.

Morata has amassed eight goals in all competitions for Chelsea since his club-record switch from Real Madrid in the summer. He recently notched the winner in the 1-0 triumph over rivals Manchester United.
