Jose Mourinho confirms five first-team players will miss Brighton game

16 March 2018 - 22:43

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has provided an injury update on his players ahead of tomorrow's FA Cup quarter-final versus Brighton.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso
  • The Red Devils suffered a shock 2-1 aggregate defeat at the hands of Sevilla in the Champions League, and the cup now remains their only route towards securing silverware this term.

Speaking to MUTV, the manager admitted that there were no recoveries in regards to the injured players, and the team would have a similar outlook to recent matches, he said: "No, not yet. [The squad is] exactly the same [as Sevilla]."

This means that the likes of Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind are certain to miss the Cup outing as they recover from their respective knocks whilst Ander Herrera is sidelined with a muscular injury.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the other player in the unavailable list, though he has been training with the first-team this month. The big Swede has had a recurrence of his knee injury, and he is reluctant to take the field unless completely fit.
