Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly decided against offering a new contract to Belgium international Toby Alderweireld. The versatile defender is said to be attracting from both Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.

  • Alderweireld, 29, joined Spurs from Atletico Madrid during the summer of 2015, and he has since been a regular at the heart of the Spurs defence.

However, his future has come in question in recent weeks after failing to agree upon a new deal, and he now appears playing second fiddle behind Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen for a spot in the starting lineup.

According to Het Laatste Nieuws, the north London side are unlikely to reward the defender with a fresh deal owing to excessive wage demands, which are said to stand at £180,000-a-week.

As a result, they are prepared to sanction his sale for around £43m during the summer with Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain among the prime contenders to pursue his signature.

Despite the uncertainty over his future, Alderweireld has been picked by Belgium boss Roberto Martinez, and he is likely to feature in the sole international friendly against Saudi Arabia.
