Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has emerged as a surprise loan target for Barcelona ahead of the 2018 summer transfer window. The England international has failed to established himself as a regular at left-back under Jose Mourinho over the past 21 months.
According to The Sun, the Catalan giants are weighing up a surprise loan bid for Shaw with Lucas Digne due to be shown the exit door at the end of the season.
However, United may not necessary accept to the Spanish club's demands, given Shaw's contract is due to expire in 14 months' time. Mourinho has already alerted the board over a suitable replacement for Shaw and the club are said to favour a permanent deal in order to recoup funds for a future transfer.
Juventus' Alex Sandro is currently said to be United's prime target to bolster the left-back position, but the deal is expected to cost in upwards of £50m during the summer.
