Algerian international Riyad Mahrez could finally leave Leicester City this summer as new champions Manchester City prepare to make a third attempt at signing him.Â
Mahrez has been rumoured to be on the verge of an exit from the King Power Stadium since he helped The Foxes win the Premier League in 2016, the same time that other key players such as N'Golo Kante and Danny Drinkwater departed.Â
The last transfer window appeared to be the time that Mahrez would leave the club, with a deadline day deal with Manchester City almost completed, before it fell through at the eleventh hour, much to the disappointment and anger of the player himself.Â
The attacker has two years remaining on his Leicester contract and the club was unwilling to do business for him in any deal worth less than £85 million, reports suggested. However, Mahrez made his feelings very publicly known after a deal was denied and The Sun today believes that Manchester City think an agreement can be reached in the region of £65 million.Â
Just days after Manchester City were confirmed as Premier League champions, manager Pep Guardiola is already plotting his summer business to further strengthen the team that all other clubs already envy. In a team already full of world-class players, the likes of Kylian Mbappe have also been linked with a move to The Etihad when the window opens.Â
It is very likely that Manchester City bosses will be happy to fund these further improvements, something which didn't happen for last season's champions Chelsea, which manager Antonio Conte still regularly mentions and which could ultimately cost him his job.Â
