Tottenham captain Ledley King is looking forward to returning to full fitness for Spurs. King lifted Tottenham's first trophy in nine years on Sunday as the Lilywhites won the Carling Cup, and King is confident his knee will fully heal and he will return injury free.

  • "My desire has not gone away. I'm not 100 per cent at the moment. I haven't done much training in the last month or so.

"Once I get my knee right, I will be but I'm not worried about that."

King was praised for his performance against Chelsea as he and Jonathan Woodgate limited the effectiveness of Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka, with Fabio Capello watching in the stands.

"I didn't want to come off the pitch for anyone and my team-mates helped me get through it," King said. "I was always going to fight my way through it.

"I hope it's the first of many, but it's good to know we are a team that can win trophies."
