Jose Mourinho: Chelsea offloaded Mohamed Salah

Mourinho insists he had no role in Salah's Chelsea departure

Jose Mourinho: Chelsea offloaded Mohamed Salah

26 April 2018 - 21:25

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has stressed that he was not responsible for the sale of Mohamed Salah during his time at Chelsea.

  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?
  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?

  • The Egypt international was signed by Mourinho during the winter of 2014 but could not break into the starting lineup more regularly before he was shipped out on loan.

Eventually after a couple of loan spells in Serie A, Salah signed permanently for AS Roma in the summer of 2016 and Mourinho has stressed that he had no role to play in the attacker's exit.

"It is the first time that I am going to say this, but it is another injustice that has been talked about me. People say that I was the one that sold Salah and it is the opposite. I bought Salah," he told ESPN Brasil.

A section of the Blues' faithful have tended to blame the Portuguese for the exit of Salah but unsurprisingly, Mourinho was dismissed from the head roach role prior to the Egyptian's exit from Stamford Bridge.
