Former Barcelona head coach Luis Enrique has reportedly made staggering wage demands in order to succeed Arsene Wenger as the next Arsenal manager.

  • Earlier last month, reports suggested that the 47-year-old is the early favourite to become the next Gunners boss but the club now seem to have reached a major stumbling block towards a deal.

According to The Mirror, Enrique is seeking a gross package of around £25m a year with the promise of an additional £200m kitty to spend on new recruits.

However, this is something the Gunners' hierarchy are unwilling to match and they have hence decided to look elsewhere for a suitable replacement for Wenger.

Wenger's currently commands a salary of £8m a year and the board are supposedly seeking a manager whom they can pay less that the French tactician.

Hoffenheim's Julian Nagelsmann and former Gunner Mikel Arteta have been identified as possible managerial targets alongside Liverpool assistant Zeljko Buvac.
