West Ham United have announced the appointment of manager Manuel Pellegrini on a three-year contract. The 64-year-old will take over the reigns from David Moyes, who was in temporary charge of the Hammers for most of the 2017/18 season.
"I am delighted to welcome Manuel Pellegrini to West Ham United. He is one of the world's most respected football coaches and we look forward to working with him," Hammers co-chairman David Sullivan told the club's official website.
Pellegrini handed his resignation at Chinese Super League Hebei Fortune on Sunday and a report from Evening Standard has suggested that he could be one of the highest-paid managers in the Premier League.
The former Manchester City head coach is deemed to have agreed on an annual wage package of around £10m and this puts him just below Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho in the salary bracket.
West Ham United only managed a 13th place finish under Moyes during the previous campaign and the supporters will be hoping for an improvement under Pellegrini, who made a good impression formerly at the Etihad Stadium.
