Michy Batshuayi updates on his Chelsea future

Batshuayi to decide on future after World Cup

Michy Batshuayi updates on his Chelsea future

25 May 2018 - 18:00

Belgium international Michy Batshuayi has said that he will only consider his Chelsea future following the summer World Cup in Russia.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • The 24-year-old was sparingly used by manager Antonio Conte during the first half of last season and this saw him loaned out to Borussia Dortmund in January where he impressed with nine goals in 14 outings.

Since then, there has been the talk of him pursuing a fresh challenge away from Stamford Bridge and he has now stressed that his future will only be decided after the World Cup.

"It was a while since I had played so much. I can't remember being allowed to play two games in a row at Chelsea. It was good to gain confidence," he said.

"I don't have a preference; they're two beautiful clubs. My focus is on the World Cup right now and I don't want to think about what happens afterwards."

Chelsea are likely to appoint a new head coach to replace Antonio Conte in the next few days and this could yet tempt Batshuayi to remain at the west London club.

Meanwhile, Blues teammate Alvaro Morata has been spotted meeting up with Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici and the Spaniard could leave the club after just a solitary campaign.
