Manchester United to trigger release clause of French defender?

Manchester United are reportedly looking to trigger the release clause of Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet. The Frenchman was one of the standout performers for the Andalusian outfit during their Champions League round of 16 triumph over the Red Devils last season.

  • According to L'Equipe, the Red Devils have joined long-term admirers Barcelona in the pursuit of the defender, who has established himself as one of the hottest prospects in the Spanish La Liga.

    The Frenchman presently has a £31m release clause on his contract and the Red Devils are supposedly prepared to trigger the valuation in order to bring him to Old Trafford.

    Manchester United have been pretty active since the close of the previous campaign and they have recently announced the signing of midfielder Fred from Shakhtar Donestk.

    Jose Mourinho's side are also close to securing the signature of Portuguese full-back Diogo Dalot who is expected to cost a fee of around £19m from FC Porto.
