Jonny Evans agrees to join Leicester City

07 June 2018 - 12:25

Former Manchester United defender Jonny Evans has agreed to join Leceister City from West Brom after accepting a deal with the club, Sky Sports reports.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • He made the agreement after the former Premier League Champions met the relegation release clause of £3.5m in his West Brom contract.

It is understood that the Northern Ireland international will have his medical in the next two days.

Sky Sports also reports that the £3.5m will be paid in two installments.

Evans spent three years at West Brom after moving from Manchester United for £6m.

Evans will be heading to Leicester with a wealth of experience having played 97 games for West Bromwich Albion, and 198 for Manchester United before that.

He has featured in title winning sides during his United side, and was part of the United central defence alongside Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic who went fourteen consecutive games in the Premier League without conceding a goal.

He will also be bringing his winning mentality to a Leicester team that seem to have lost it since their Premier League title win in 2016.
