09 June 2018 - 05:54

Leicester City's new signing Jonny Evans has said that he couldn't turn down the opportunity to play for an ambitious club like The Foxes when it came up.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Evans was signed from West Bromwich Albion for a fee reported to be £3.5m. The money will be paid in two installments.

"When this opportunity came up, it's one that I couldn't turn down," Evans said, BBC reports. "It's an ambitious club, the owners are ambitious and everyone wants to push the club forward.

"It's a great place to play football, the fans really get behind the team and the players are fantastic."

With the signing of Evans, manager Claude Puel is adding a three-time Premier League winner to a club that won the trophy in 2016.

Before his move to Leicester, Evans had been linked to Manchester City and Arsenal.

Evans is a product of the Manchester United academy when the Legendary Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge. He played over 100 games under the Scot, but was sold to West Brom by former United boss Louis van Gaal in 2015.
