Newcastle are reportedly considering a move for West Bromwich Albion's Salomon Rondon once the departure of Aleksandar Mitrovic is confirmed.

  • The Magpies are currently in discussions with Fulham over the sale of Mitrovic and there is a high probability that they could sanction his exit for a fee of around &pound20m.

As such, the Tynesiders are already looking into probable replacements and according to The Star, they are expected to use most of the sum recouped to push through a deal for Rondon.

The Venezuela international presently has a &pound16.5m relegation break clause following the Baggies' drop to the Championship and he is widely expected to leave the club before the transfer deadline.

Newcastle United had genuine struggles in the goalscoring department last term and Rondon has been identified as the physically-imposing striker, who could make the difference for them during the 2018/19 campaign.

Rafael Benitez's side have made three signings in the form of Kenedy,  Ki Sung-Yeung and Martin Dubravka this summer with the former arriving on a season-long loan from Chelsea.
