Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has praised the performance of the Old Trafford side in their 2-1 win over Leicester City on Friday night.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • United and Leicester played the first Premier League game of the 2018/19 season at Old Trafford with Jose Mourinho's men claiming all three points despite not playing very well.

He said: "We should start the Premier League with a win and we did. I didn't have any pre-season games, I came back on Monday so it was very hard for the legs. We played very well, the performance was OK."

Pogba scored the opening goal of the game in the third minute via the penalty spot before Luke Shaw made it two in the 83rd minute.

Jamie Vardy got one back for the visitors in the second minute of stoppage time to deny David de Gea a clean sheet.

Luke Shaw's goal in the game is the first he has ever scored as a professional footballer.

Amid speculation linking Pogba with a move out of United, he was made the captain of the side in the absence of Antonio Valencia.
